About Simon Johnson
Simon Johnson is one of the world’s foremost authorities on the financial sector and economic crises. He is a Ronald A. Kurtz Professor of Entrepreneurship at MIT’s Sloan School of Management and former Chief Economist at the International Monetary Fund.

Over the past 20 years he has worked on crisis prevention, mitigation and recovery, as well as economic growth issues in advanced economies, emerging markets, and developing countries. His work focuses on policymakers—how they can limit the impact of negative shocks, manage the risks faced by their countries, and maintain global economic stability.

Professor Johnson is the co-author of 13 Bankers: The Wall Street Take-over and the Next Financial Meltdown, which discusses how our future is imperiled by the ideology of finance (finance is good, unregulated finance is better, unfettered finance run amok is best) and by Wall Street’s political control of government policy pertaining to it.
